My research focuses on ways to prompt environmentally friendly behavior, emotion, and cognition through the design of physical and digital environments. I use qualitative and quantitative research methods to examine how the interactions among human systems, technology, and the environment lead to positive and negative outcomes.
Currently, I'm researching and designing several mobile app prototypes with 16 family forest owners, businesses, non-profits, and government agencies to prompt sustainable forestry practices by networking forestry professionals with family forest owners. This research brings together physical space, human networks, and digital interfaces to shape human interaction with forested land.
Fields I draw from include: psychology, marketing, organizational change, communication, design, human computer interaction, environmental studies, and science, technology, and society.
